CMT Meeting, November 5

CMT Meeting

Leadership Seminar
The feedback on the Morrie S. seminar indicated that it was engaging and it stimulated discussions. The Lifelong Learning Center is in the process of tabulating the feedback from the event. Jodie will take care of splitting and mailing out the bills for the CMT Leadership Luncheon. Cost will be split between Lifelong Learning, the COT, the Job Service, Child Care Resources, and the Human Resource Council. The Leadership Luncheon resulted in good participation and discussion between agencies. Fewer agency leaders attended compared to our 2008 Leadership Seminar, but the participation and engagement seemed to be higher.

Cross Training, November 17
Jodie presented the list of the folks who are currently signed up for the November 17th Education & Training Cross Training event at the Lifelong Learning Center. Presenters and table assignments were reviewed. If you have materials you would like handed out in the packets, please get 50-60 copies to Jodie asap. Jodie will contact Marie at Job Corps and Naomi at REO to find out about adding them as presenters. Saundra will send a reminder to all CMT agencies to encourage folks to sign up for the training. Refreshments will be provided. Lifelong Learning will take care of beverages, plates, napkins and cups. Job Service will provide fruit and cheese. Saundra will contact the COT to see if they can provide cookies or another snack.
There will be 6 tables:
1- Job Service & the Job Service WORC Program on Palmer
2- UM College of Technology
3- The Lifelong Learning Center
4- Human Resource Council
5- Vocational Rehabilitation & Blind and Low Vision Services
6- Rural Employment Opportunities & Job Corps

February CMT Social
Saundra will contact Mountain West Bank to find out which dates in February are available for the full CMT social. We will try for dates towards the end of the week, from 3-5 pm.

Bylaw Update
Bylaws will be updated and sent out so that they can be approved at the full CMT social in February.

Other Updates and News

Child Care Resources continues their search for appropriate building space for relocation. They need at least 4,000 square feet of space.

LIEAP (Low Income Energy Assistance Program) at the Human Resource Council started on October 1st. Applications this year are about equivalent to last year at this time. This program runs through April 30th. The application for LIEAP is complicated, and the program is highly regulated. If you know seniors who need to apply, Missoula Aging Services will help with the application.

The Lifelong Learning Center will be activating their online registration for classes sometime in the future. The system needs a bit more testing before it is totally ready.

Direction of CMT
The One-Stop System requires that we keep our CMT in place and active. We also need to make sure we are meeting the criteria for recertification. It also serves an incredible use as a networking and relational component for the organizations in our community. There are many groups in Missoula working for the same things we are. We discussed options for the CMT and how it should look for the next year. It was decided that the CMT will hold 4 activities for the full CMT group each year. In February we will have a Community Round Table meeting for all the CMT organizations to attend. We will put on two cross training academies, in May and in November. In September we will hold the Leadership Summit. The Core CMT group will continue to meet each month on the first Thursday of each month at 9:00 am at the Missoula Job Service. When we hold a CMT Core group meeting, Saundra will send reminders to the full CMT that they are welcome to attend. The Job Service will be responsible for managing the aspects of the CMT including sending out meeting reminders and completing minutes for meetings.

Leadership Summit
Options for the CMT Leadership Summit were discussed. The Summit was very successful last year. It was decided that rather than holding a separate Leadership Summit in September, we will combine the CMT Leadership meeting with the Morris Shechtman presentation in Missoula on November 3. That presentation has a $75.00 cost associated with it. After the presentation ends at 12:30, the CMT Leadership will meet for a lunch discussion on the implications of the presentation for their organization in Missoula. The lunch will be paid for by the following CMT organizations: Job Service, HRC, COT, Lifelong Learning, Experience Works, and possibly Child Care Resources. Monique will contact the DoubleTree Hotel and check to see if space is available for the lunch meeting. She will also draft a letter to be sent out to the leadership of the CMT organizations. The letter will include information about what we did last year, what our plans are for the leadership group this year, and information about CMT activities. Assignments for contacting the agencies were made. We will also try to get someone from Aging Services and from the UM to participate.

Education & Training Cross Training Academy
Wolf, Lynn and Monique will meet separately to discuss and plan our next cross training academy. It will be held on Tuesday, November 17th from 10:00 to 12:00 at the Lifelong Learning Center.

February Community Roundtable
By the time we meet for the Leadership Summit in November, we will have a date, location and time for the February Community Roundtable meeting.

Other Updates
Gary from Experience Works updated us on his territory. He is now responsible for the West Central portion of Montana, including Ravalli County.

The COT has been offering some trainings in Hamilton, including computer training and CNA training. This Fall they will be offering eight 4 credit classes. The local director for the Bitterroot College Programs is Victoria Clark. The Hamilton classes fall under the Bitterroot College Programs of the University of Montana.

Adult Basic Education is coping with a 10% reduction in their funds. Monique laid off two staff members and had to cut hours for others. ABE is seeing more students than ever. Diana Reetz-Stacy suggested that the COT and the LLC work together on some collaborative grants.

The Job Service is going to have one staff member working with the Family Self Sufficiency Program through the Missoula Housing Authority. Paula Marcinkowski will be taking that position at the Missoula Job Service. Paula previously was a Disability Navigator. The position she held will go to the Helena/Great Falls region, and Mark Waugh will be the Disability Navigator for our region. He is based out of Kalispell.

Vocational Rehabilitation has hired three Vista volunteers. They are offering more on the job training, and are seeing more employers interested in OJT’s.

Next Meeting
The next CMT Core Group meeting will be on Thursday, September 3 at 9:00.

Minutes, April 7 Meeting

CMT Social
The event was successful, with a good attendance and good information presented on the struggles and updates from each organization.

Upcoming Training
We need at least 20 participants to put on the Housing and Family Services training. There are currently 19 registrants. Saundra will send a reminder for organizations to register participants.

COT Update
Lynn updated us on a few projects the COT is working on. One is a Construction Academy. Similar academies are in place in Eastern Montana and Helena. Possible opportunities for collaboration between the WIA Youth program and the COT were discussed. Lynn also told us about their continual efforts to educate people on “High Wage, High Demand, Non-Traditional” careers for men and women. The COT is doing outreach to promote people moving into these career areas.

Leadership Summit
Larry Swanson has been confirmed as a speaker for the Leadership Summit. We are still waiting to hear back from Mayor Engen’s office. The venue at St. Patrick Hospital has been reserved.

The next CMT meeting will be on Thursday, June 4th at 9:00 am at the Missoula Job Service.
