Minutes, April 7 Meeting

CMT Social
The event was successful, with a good attendance and good information presented on the struggles and updates from each organization.

Upcoming Training
We need at least 20 participants to put on the Housing and Family Services training. There are currently 19 registrants. Saundra will send a reminder for organizations to register participants.

COT Update
Lynn updated us on a few projects the COT is working on. One is a Construction Academy. Similar academies are in place in Eastern Montana and Helena. Possible opportunities for collaboration between the WIA Youth program and the COT were discussed. Lynn also told us about their continual efforts to educate people on “High Wage, High Demand, Non-Traditional” careers for men and women. The COT is doing outreach to promote people moving into these career areas.

Leadership Summit
Larry Swanson has been confirmed as a speaker for the Leadership Summit. We are still waiting to hear back from Mayor Engen’s office. The venue at St. Patrick Hospital has been reserved.

Next Meeting
The next CMT meeting will be on Thursday, June 4th at 9:00 am at the Missoula Job Service.

Upcoming CMT Events Reminder!

Its time for the CMT to meet together again!

We have planned a CMT meeting/social at Mountain West Bank (next to Costco) at 3301 Great Northern Way in Missoula. This will be a time for the CMT to reconnect and to share information updates about our organizations (especially related to the Recovery Act).

Other upcoming items to include on your calendars:

CMT Family Services and Housing Training The day is scheduled for May 14th from 10:00-12:00 at the Lifelong Learning Center. It will focus on appropriate referrals to the family service and housing organizations who are presenting. There will be room for approximately 50 attendees, and we would like to have line staff from our CMT organizations attend. More information will be shared at the social and sent out to your organizations.

Missoula Career Fair This year the Career fair is going to be open to community organizations. If you would like to connect with over 3,000 job seekers in Missoula (especially if you offer services related to careers) you should be there. It’s a great time for our organizations to stand up and show the community what we are doing to support them during the trying economic times. Please contact the Missoula Job Service for more information, or visit this link.

The Family Services and Housing Chairs reported on our upcoming cross training.
The day is scheduled for May 14th from 10:00-12:00 at the Lifelong Learning Center. It will focus on appropriate referrals to the family service and housing organizations who are presenting. There will be room for approximately 50 attendees. Monique will maintain a waiting list if there are more than 50 interested in attending. The training will take place in a speed dating format. We will open the training with some information about 211-First Call for Help and then Michelle will make some housekeeping announcements. The 5 groups of people will then begin circulating around the tables. They will be at each table for 10 minutes, and then have 2 minutes to move to the next table. There will be a networking portion from 12:00-12:30. The Chairs will provide snacks. The tables will be as follows:

1-Missoula Housing Authority and the Human Resource Council Housing Information
2-YWCA, Council Groves, and homeWORD
3-OPA and the Job Service WORC Program (Possible: Blind and Low Vision)
4-Missoula Veterans Center, Summit Independent Living Center, and Turning Point
5-Child Care Resources, Salvation Army, and WORD

Monique will provide certificates to participants. She will send out a copy to the Chairs of the day so they can decide on wording for the certificate. CCR and HRDC will work on getting small items donated to motivate people to stay on time. Monique will get color coded folders and nametags, and will set up the sound system. Michelle will take care of managing the transitions between tables. Monique will talk to Jodie and get an evaluation card made up to get feedback from participants. We will collect feedback on the format and the use of time. The Chairs for the day will be asking each presenting agency to put together a one page synopsis regarding who they serve and how to refer to that agency. Monique will take care of registration for the event, assigning groups, and color coordinating the groups. She will also provide a participant list for each person who attends. The Chairs will call to invite the organizations who are attending, and the other core CMT members will call to invite the non presenting organizations. Lynn will provide pens. The Chairs will develop a flyer for distribution by Monique.

Please find out for registration purposes how many staff will attend and the following information: Name, address, phone number and email.

Please email Monique if you know of any changes to the list of CMT Leadership from the Summit, and also for any additional organizations you would like to invite.

It was decided that we will hold a full CMT meeting on Tuesday, April 14th from 3:30-5:00 pm, location to be arranged. Monique will contact Mountain West Bank to see if we can reserve their conference room. At that time we can update our full membership and touch base on how stimulus money may affect our organizations.

The next CMT meeting is on April 2 at 9:00 am at Job Service.

Monique reported on a Lifelong Learning Center Satellite office in Superior. There is a community meeting on the 11th of March at 6:00 pm at the Superior Elementary School to gage interest in the programs that could be provided to that community. Anyone is welcome.

Monique requested a letter of support from the CMT regarding ABE sites. The CMT needs clarification on the source of funds before sending the letter.

Michelle updated us on their search for a new location.

Meeting adjourned.
